Uganda the Pearl of Africa

Named by Winston Churchill as the “Pearl of Africa in 1908 in his book (African Travel Journey), Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa whose diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Boarded by Kenya in East, Tanzania in South, and Rwanda and D.R. Congo in the West and South Sudan in the North. Famous for the remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, globally renowned for the mountain gorilla trekking in the wild sanctuary and the immersed Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest Uganda well known for its 43m-tall waterfall and wildlife such as hippos, lions, giraffes and other wildlife.

With over 10 National Parks; 12 Wildlife reserves; 5 Community Wildlife Management Areas; and 13 Wildlife Sanctuaries, of which the ten National Parks include; Murchison Falls National, Bwindi Impenetrable Park, Kidepo Valley National Park, Queen Elizabeth national Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Lake Mburo national Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Mount Elgon, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki national Park, a holiday safari encompasses a game drive, boat tours, forest hikes, mountain climbing and wildlife research activities.

Uganda is unrivalled on the continent as a bird-watching destination with over 1,000 species of birds-several of which some are found nowhere else on the planet. It is also home to 13 types of primates which include more than half of the world’s endangered Mountain Gorillas; and our closest relatives-the chimpanzees.
