7 Days Uganda Safari Experience with Primates

Travel to Kibale Forest National Park via Fort Portal, The drive is through a beautiful countryside dotted with traditional homesteads, crop gardens and huge Tea plantations as well as trading center and towns. You will have lunch en-route and arrive in the late afternoon

Overnight at; Papaya Lake Lodge (FB) (Luxury) or Isunga Lodge (FB) or Kibale Forest Camp (Budget).

Report at the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre at 08.00 am for a briefing on the rules of chimpanzee habituation. Kibale National Park has the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species being the Chimpanzee, baboons, black and white colobus, red colobus, grey cheeked mangabey and L’Hoest monkey. In the afternoon, you may go (optional) for a community walk or cultural/traditional dance performances.

Then, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park and have lunch at the lodge booked. In the afternoon go for a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is a 42km channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and offers an excellent opportunity for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful, with well over 550 resident species.

Overnight will be at Elephant Plains Lodge (FB) (Luxury) or Kasenyi Safari Camp (FB) (Budget).

Transfer to Ishasha Sector still in Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for the climbing lions and later transfer to Bwindi National Park or Ruhiija

You will after breakfast move to the Ishasha sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for the tree climbing lions lounging in the tree branches while keeping a close eye on herds of Uganda Kob, their favorite prey. It is also home to many buffaloes, elephants as well as the rare shoebill and later in the evening transfer to Bwindi or Ruhiija.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (There is an optional to track Gorillas from Ruhijja).

The height of Uganda Tour Safari is at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where we meet our cousins; the Mountain Gorillas. After breakfast take a short drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest where the gorillas were seen the night before and track from that point. The trekking can take from 2 to 8 hours and climb to altitudes in excess of 7,500 feet. The terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the Hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world.

Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film is recommended. You will spend one hour with one of our closest relatives. It can rain at a few minutes notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film. N.B. We cannot guarantee seeing Gorillas. In the later afternoon, optional to go for a village walk that include visiting the Batwa homes for their livelihood experience or Traditional entertainment and performance.
